This story is about a thirteen-year-old girl that ran away from her family and friends because she didn't want to go to school. She was making her way through the tundra and to a boat so she could stay with her pen pal Amy in San Francisco.  But she doesn't make it and has to face some problems in the story. I think it was a cool story but some parts I just didnít like.

The things that I liked were all of the problems that she had to face in her life and how she solved them. Some of the problems I like are when she didn't have any food left, when Tornait died and she was left alone, when Jello took all of the food that she was saving, and when she had met the Eskimos that said her father was still alive. I liked all of the wolves she had met too. They sound so sweet and cuddly. I also thought the ending was nice but I wonít want to spoil it for you.

I had felt sad when the hunters shot and killed Amaroq and when they hurt Kapu. Also I didnít like the part where the dad had left her alone with her Aunt Martha. I also felt sad when the pack killed Jello. I didn't really like the part where the pack left while she was sleeping. They didn't even give her a chance to catch up to them, and to stay with them, they just left.

I would recommend this book to people that like mysteries since you donít know where she is going to go until you get near the end of the story. I think everyone should read this book because I thought it was a cool book. It had its funny parts and it had its sad parts but I thought it was a nice book.

I think the important lesson that the author was trying to get at was donít run away from home just because you are mad at someone. You might get lost and not know the way home. You might not even see anyone, or you might starve to death. You really shouldn't run away at all because you never know what your going to get into.
