Julie of the Wolves is an amazing
book. It is about a 13 year old girl named Miyax Kapugen. The story takes
place in the Tundra of Alaska, in the modern day. Miyax had a pen pal that
lived in San Francisco. One day she decided to pack her bags to go live
with her pen pal, to get away from her husband Daniel. Miyax got lost in
the Tundra trying to get to San Francisco, so she just stayed there
My favorite parts of the story were the conflicts. Miyax had to decide whether or not to go to San Francisco, stay Eskimo, or live with her family. Well, Miyax decided not to go to San Francisco to see her pen pal or continue to be Eskimo. "She stood there for a while then turned her boots toward her father". Miyax decided to live with her father and his Eskimo wife.
I disliked the mood of the story when Amaroq got shot and died. The other part I disliked was when the hunters shot Kapu. Before that, everyone was sad because of Amaroq dying. Kapu lived even though heíd been shot. Another sad part was when Tornait the bird died. He just closed his eyes on Miyaxís hand and didnít wake up. When Jello died, the mood was sad again. There were a lot of sad parts in this story.
Read this book itís good. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sad but also happy books. If you like adventures this is also a great book for you. If you need AR points read this book. Itís short and worth 6.0 AR points. I rated this book 3 stars out of 5 so thatís pretty good.
The lesson I learned from Julie of the Wolves is that humans have different perspectives or opinions on wolves. I personally think wolves are good animals. They can help you survive like Amaroq was doing for Miyax in the wilderness. I also learned not to run away from home. If you get lost youíre stuck out in the middle of nowhere and have nowhere to go. So think smart and know where your going.
