Call of the Wild is a great book if you like adventure
stories. Call of the Wild is about a dog named Buck. Buck had
a nice life with his rich owner, the Judge. Then one day, one of
the Judge's helpers stole Buck because of a gambling debt. The helper
took Buck and sold him to someone for money. Buck goes through an
exchange of people and finally ends up on the Klondike gold rush trail
in Alaska. I think that this book is very suspenseful and keeps you
reading.
I liked how the author described the characters and the place in which the book takes place. In my mind I could picture all the characters and scenes while I was reading the book. I also liked how Buck could defend himself during fights and in everyday life. The way that Buck fought was very realistic. I also liked the story because the story is action packed and keeps me on the edge of my seat at all times.
I didnít like most of Buckís owners in the story because they were mean to Buck. One owner would have beat Buck to death because Buck wouldnít get up. Buck couldnít get up because his owners didnít feed him right or let him have enough rest. I also didnít like how the author make some of the people talk bad English because I had to translate it in my head. Even though I didnít like how some of them spoke, I think that the speech added to the reality of the book.
I recommend this book to others because it is very action packed and emotional. It is exiting to read the book because on every couple of pages, there is a new event that adds to the action of the book. It is sad when Buck is getting beaten or when Buck changes owners. I think it is neat to have so many characters in the book and have the book not being too confusing. I think that the fights in the book added to the action because they were realistic and fun to read.
I learned that life can not always go your way. An example of this is that throughout the story Buck kept changing owners. Reading this book showed me that life can change extremely fast. Buck's life went form a southern home to an Alaska nightmare. If Buck had control of his life, I think he would have picked his southern home even though in the end Buck liked it more in Alaska.
