Child of the Wolves, by Elizabeth Hall, is a book about a Siberian husky named Granite.  Granite runs away from his home to avoid being sold.  He then finds a wolf pack and they adopt the young dog.  I liked this book because of the adventures and the problems that the pack faces.  It kept me very interested in the story and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened.

My favorite part of the book was how the author portrayed Granite.  At times in the book I was sad and felt sorry for him. Like the time when Granite went into another pack's territory and was attacked.  He was terrified and concerned about whether he was going to live or die.  At other times the events were so exciting that I couldnít wait to read what happened.  For example when Granite and Roamer were fighting for the food. Granite won for the first time and was able to move up in rank.

What I didnít like about the story were a few of the events.  Although they were well written I wished they would have turned out differently.  I wished that Granite didnít get sold to a total stranger because the original owners had no idea what the stranger was going to do with Granite.  I also didnít like when the author didnít really give a good enough ending of whether he was going to be a leader or whether he was going to die in a fight.  I also didnít like when Climber died because he was one of Granite's best friends in the pack.

I do recommend this story to other people because it isnít a scary book.  Although  Strider died, the author doesnít give any gory details. I would also recommend this to other people because it doesnít have any violence.  For example when they got food they donít give much detaile of whether the food fights or not.  For all of the reasons I have just listed I would recommend this book to other people.

Finally my concluding paragraph is the lessons I have learned.  I have learned many  lessons from this book like, when you think that all is lost you should never give up. If someone thinks you cant fit in with a group you should try to prove them wrong.  If you are all alone and hepless you should prove to yourself that you can survive.  All of those lessons and many more are the lessons I have learned.
