The Call of the Wild is a tragic story of the life of a dog named Buck who was stolen from his house in Santa Clara Valley to become a sled dog.  As he is bought from owner to owner, he starts becoming wild.  I really like this book because what happens in the end is never what you would expect.

My favorite part of the story was where Buck ran off to lead a wolf pack.  I also liked the part where Buck saved John Thorntonís life, I think that was heroic and tragic. I liked a lot of this book and I hope you will to.

I didnít like the part where buck was whipped and beaten by the man in the red sweater . The man in the red sweater is a bad person.  I also did not like the violence and the gory parts.  The part where John died was also sad to me.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fictional stories about the gold rush; I would also recommend book to any kind of dog lover.  People should know that there is some violence in this book so you might not want to read it.

I learned a lot about the gold rush from this book.  I also learned about dogs and the way they act, especially in tough situations.  I think I learned that real friend wont forget each other even when one dies.  All around I liked this book and would recommend it to others.
