The Call of the Wild is a very detailed and interesting book.  Itís about a dog named, Buck, and his adventure up to the North.  When Buck was with Judge Miller he could roam freely and have fun.  But when he gets kidnapped, he is forced to pull a sled to the Yukon Gold Rush way up North.  He has to make changes around to adapt to his surroundings.

I really enjoyed the theme.  When Buck was traveling up north it was a very exciting part.  He also had to learn from his mistakes and move on.  Like the part when he had trusted the Judge but now he learned not to trust his owners.  I also enjoyed the conflicts.  The main conflict was to stay alive in the wilderness.  For example: he needs to respect a man that has a whip or a club.

I disliked the owners because they treated the dogs very unfairly.  When the man in the red sweater hit Buck with the club and Buck just about died.  Once, when Buck got really skinny and couldnít pull the sled.  Also I disliked how the author had so muck description when they were fighting..  Also when Buck's crew with Mercedes and Hal, fell throough the thin ice and froze to death.
I would recommend this book to people who like adventure.  Also to people who like suspense, and who like dog stories.  The book is mainly for people who enjoy the wilderness.  If you like a very descriptive gook you would enjoy this book very much.  I also recommend this book to boys or girls who like stories that have adventure.

I learned that you need to have bravery in order to survive in the wilderness.  You also need to believe in yourself to survive successfully in the wild.  You also have to learn from you mistakes.  You also need to have confidence in yourself and to be a very generous person.    You arenít born with anything so you need to earn it to be a successful person.
