Altoona Schools

This is a picture of Altoona High school after the fire.

The first Altoona high school was built in 1911 and added on to in 1922. It burned down on Halloween in October, 1951. The school was rebuilt with wings for a grade school and high school. Soon a new elementary school was added and the old grade school wing became a middle school with grades 6-8. In 1989. the present high was opened.
 
 

Altoona Middle School now. Built in 1952, it replaced the old burned high school.
