The Dangers of the Log Run
BY: NIKKI J.

There were many dangers in the log run of long ago. There were log jams, and lots of people trying to run millions of logs down a raging river. There was also just the plain fact that it's not easy to stand on a log, and float down a river that is moving fast. Many injuries and fatalities took place on the Chippewa River in those days. One of the things that helped the lumberjacks with this job werethe cleats on the bottoms of their boots. They helped give them traction so they didn't slip off of the wet, rolling logs.
