Lumberjacks worked out through the winters. This was actually one of the easiest times to chop and deliver lumber. They built sleighs that were drawn by many horses to easily slide across the snow. There usually was not lost lumber due to the frozen over lakes. In the summer time they would make out a map of the surrounding land to the nearest three saw mills. This photo is actually Carson Park back in the early 1900s.
