Mark and Randy, Mark's cousin, set off on the traditional family 10 day canoe trip through the lake country of Minnesota. Both cousins do not want to go on the trip. Randy, a diabetic, uses his illness to avoid work (in Mark's opinion). Mark, who is leaving a girl friend behind, is not the outdoor type. Later, they realize they'll need to cooperate and work together in order to survive the experience.
