Uncle Mac

Uncle Mac is Jeremy's uncle in the book Crescent Moon
by Alden Carter. He is a wood carver who thinks that industry is
growing too fast. When he finished with his final carving, an Indian
woman named Crescent Moon, he goes on to make signs until he died in his
sleep.
Most people switched over to industry when it started
to rise. Some people, however, like Uncle Mac, didn't. They
felt that industry was rising too fast and that the old ways were dying
out. They stuck with their old ways.
