The eruption of Mt. St. Helen's
in Washington was a shock to the people of the northwest and the entire
United States. The last time the volcano had erupted was in 1857. In May
of 1980, however, it experienced a huge eruption blowing away nearly 1000
feet from teh top of the mountain, and killing 57 people. Examine the artifacts
