Event #1
"The Log Drive"
By: Robbie B.

"The Log Drive" was a very special event in the story "Crescent Moon". The log drive is when loggers form a huge raft of logs on a river so they can stand on them and flow the logs down to the Mississippi River or other rivers they want to. In some drives, wood-carvers and other people who need wood can buy the logs on the way down, and the remains are sold at the destination. But, sometimes the loggers are bringing them down and there will be no extras so they can not be sold on the way. There can be log drives with very few logs or many logs. In the picture below, is an example of many logs. The people that are on the logs are either the loggers or just people that are helping out on loading or unloading. The loggers either use the long sticks that you see, or they may prefer their hands. The logs fill up the river so you can't see too much water below. This picture I think is of the Chippewa River, which is the same river that is used in the book "Crescent Moon" written by Alden Carter.
