Lumbering

Yes, this was the main job in Eau Claire because there were so many pine trees. When they were transporting the logs by the Eau Claire River. They got the pines in the fall because this was the time for harvest. When the logs came down the river they would store them in log sheds for different purposes.

They later stopped because they had cut down all the pines. Later they started moving to the Northwest for lumbering. There would be no more pine trees in Wisconsin for a very very  long time.
