Floating the Logs
By: Nikki J.

The logs were floated down the river on rafts.  There were a couple hundred logs on each raft.   The rafts were floated down the river, and loaded into the saw mills where the logs were cut and treated.  The rafts were pushed down stream by a stern wheeler, sometimes called a bow boat.  The "bowboat" was steam powered.
