Forest County, Wisconsin

On the same day that Chicago suffered
its worst disaster, to the north in Wisconsin, a forest fire would spread
across a wide area including the town of Pestigo and traveling into Michigan.
Whipped by winds and fed by the dry scrub of the cutover, the fire would
claim the lives of 1200 people, 900 more than its neighbor to the south.
Examine the artifacts below to learn more about this example of Nature's
Fury. |
